The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell
One of the key points from this book is that “Everything rises and falls on leadership“. The effectiveness of governments, schools, churches, sports teams, etc are directly related to the leader in charge. One thing it really highlights that I normally share is that true leadership is based on serving other people rather than getting other people like Jesus highlighted about the Pharisees in the Bible.
Serving other people is how you gain influence. Another statement by John Maxwell is that, “Leadership is influence. Nothing more, nothing less.” This book is truly life changing. Whether or not you are a leader at this point in time this book will be a great investment because at some point you are definitely going to be called upon to lead other people.
Contrary to popular opinion that leaders are just born, people can learn how to become leaders. Leadership is not just for a select few but anyone can learn how to become a great leader and make a difference in their circle of influence.
Some key lessons from this amazing book are as follows:
- Anyone can steer the ship, but it takes a leader to chart the course
- Only secure leaders give power to others
- Leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand
- Trust is the foundation of leadership
This is probably one of the books I would recommend most to people because the more true leaders we have in life the better our world will be.
